KOOP’s 20th Birthday Bash

KOOP Radio 91.7 FM celebrates 20 years of community radio on Thursday, April 2, at The North Door with sets by hip-hop soul healers Riders Against the Storm and Latin psych-funk headliners Brownout.

Heavy hitters from KOOP’s roster will spin records, including Jay Robillard of The Lounge Show, Art Baker of Jamaican Gold, Miss Manners of Hip Hop Hooray, and more! Master Pancake and Elk Mating Ritual raconteur John Erler will wreak havoc with his patented video-heckling comedy. And the emcee for the evening is KOOP and KUTX radio host Rick “Daddy” McNulty.

KOOP will also give away 3 pairs of tickets at the party to see Stevie Wonder at the Frank Erwin Center!

Second Annual Red-Hot Hootenanny & Best-By-Golly Pie Contest

Hitch up your pie posse and join KOOP Radio for a deliciously delightful evening of music by Nic Armstrong & The Thieves (’60s-influenced rock ‘n’ roll), The Boss Jaguars! (surf/instrumental rock), and Dave Insley’s Careless Smokers (twang that rocks). Plus, we’ve got a pie baking contest and—new this year—a gut-bustin’ pie eating contest!

Food Network star and 2013 Fan Favorite Rodney “Pie Man” Henry returns to join our panel of judges, which includes Austin favorites Tiny Pies and Blue Note Bakery.

Doors at 6 PM, music starts at 7 PM. To be entered in the pie contest, please have your pie delivered by 7 PM. Prizes await the winner of the best-baked pie!
