Overdue SXSW recap and new tunes

The Canucks have been out of the studio for a few weeks, wrapped up in South By Southwest and various illnesses. But, Justin the Canuck returns this week for a long-overdue SXSW recap show that’ll also feature a ton of brand new music. Tune in to hear songs from some of our favorite SXSW experiences, by artists including Close Talker, Duotang, I.D.A.L.G., Mise en Scene, Royal Tusk, We Are Wolves, and Wild Rivers!

Mixed in with these never-before-played SXSW songs, we’ve got the worldwide radio premiere of Super Pyramid‘s new single, “Living Spaces”. As well, we’ll have new tracks by The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, Land of Talk, Like Pacific, Mobina Galore, The New Pornographers, Partner, Peach Pit, Said the Whale, and Sam Patch! Most of these bands have recently released, or will soon be releasing, new albums—and we’ve got the latest for you. Plus, we’ll continue the Neil Young tradition with #73 on Rolling Stone’s countdown of his top songs of all time.

100% Canada, 100% South by Southwest

Tune in today for our annual SXSW preview show, featuring nothing but Canadian indie acts who’ll be in town next week for the South by Southwest music festival.

There are at least 75 Canadian artists descending on Austin for the festival, and we’ve got the full list here, with complete daily schedules coming this weekend.

On the show today, we’ll feature 20 of those artists—including many we’ve never played before on the show. Tune in to hear Bad Pop, The Belle Game, Busty and the Bass, Casper Skulls, Charlotte Cardin, Digging Roots, I.D.A.L.G., Les Deuxluxes, Living Hour, No Joy, Sam Coffey and The Iron Lungs, The Shanks, She-Devils, Supermoon, Teen Daze, Tokyo Police Club, Twist, The Velveteins, Wild Rivers, and Yes We Mystic!

We’re back for our first show of the new year and we’ve got a few new tracks to match!

Join Justin the Canuck today for new releases by Blackpaw Society and Vancouver’s Said the Whale. We’ve also got two sets of Canadian rap, with artists including Birdapres, Cadence Weapon, D-Sisive, Josh Martinez, K’naan, Maestro Fresh Wes, Mood Ruff, and T-train. And, rounding out our 90 minutes of Canadian music will be great tracks by Balacade, Basement Revolver, Boats!, Born Gold, Code Pie, Divine Fits, Electricity for Everybody!, Fake Shark Real Zombie!, Tough Age, and Wildlife.

Yes, you read that correctly—not one, not two, but three bands with exclamation points in their names. Crazy.
