Fall Membership Drive is happening now!

KOOP Membership Drive (Fall 2016)We produce the show for love of the music, but love by itself won’t pay the bills. That’s why we come to you, our listeners, twice a year and ask you to pledge your support for This Great White North and Austin community radio by making a donation to KOOP Radio. As a community radio station, KOOP survives (and thrives!) only as long as our listeners continue their support. In fact, more than 92% of our budget comes from the generous support of our community.

Our next three shows will be full of independent Canadian music and appeals for your support—please make a contribution to KOOP Radio today so we can continue to bring you the latest and greatest Canadian indie, along with all the other unique and essential programming that KOOP brings to the Austin community.

We’ve got some great gifts for donors! Head over to KOOP.org to show your support now or call us at 512 472-KOOP while we’re on the air (Fridays, 4:30 to 6:00 PM Central)!

Farewells, pledges, and tickets!

We’re entering the final weekend of KOOP Radio’s spring membership drive, so it’s your last chance to pledge your support for community radio in Austin by becoming a KOOP member. We’re counting on your support to keep KOOP and independent Canadian music on the radio dial in Austin! Please call us at 512 472-5667 during the show Friday (international listeners: call toll-free at 888 917-KOOP) or donate any time, online, at KOOP.org.

The caller who pledges the highest amount during our show will receive a pair of tickets to see Canadian artists Junior Boys, Jessy Lanza, and Borys at Mohawk on Tuesday, March 22!

Friday’s show also serves as a fond farewell to longtime This Great White North co-host Simone the Canuck, who will soon be moving to New York City. Simone will be at the helm, joined by Doug and Justin, as we play some of our favorite tunes, including songs about New York City. So join the Canucks for This Great White North, featuring 90 minutes of independent Canadian music, this Friday at 4:30 PM on KOOP Radio, 91.7 FM in Austin, TX and streaming online at KOOP.org.

KOOP Radio’s fall membership drive is in full swing and America’s only cooperatively-operated, all-volunteer community radio station needs your support!

As if helping to keep KOOP and This Great White North on the air weren’t reason enough to donate, this week we given you an extra reason to pledge: the chance to win a pair of tickets to see Owen Pallet when he performs with Foxes In Fiction at The Mohawk on Sept. 18!

To win the tickets, you must make a minimum pledge of $100. But that’s not all! The tickets will go to the donor who makes the highest pledge during Friday’s show!

Over 55% of KOOP’s funding comes from listeners like you, and your donation is essential for keeping KOOP on the air—so we can celebrate our station’s 20th birthday in December, along with many birthdays beyond.

Remember, the fall membership drive is happening all week. If you just can’t wait to pledge, operators are standing by at 512 472-KOOP during our broadcast hours to take your pledge. Don’t like talking on the phone? You can also make a secure online donation at any time!

Fall membership drive begins Friday!

KOOP’s fall membership drive begins Friday, so we’ll be asking you to support Austin’s only all-volunteer, all-community radio station by becoming a member or renewing your membership! Did you know that over 65% of the funds that keep KOOP on the air come from our listeners? We need your support to keep the unique music, news, opinion, and art you love—and that you can’t hear anywhere else in Austin—on the air! Please, donate now!

We’ll also be spinning a very special track by Scary Bear Soundtrack, off their upcoming album with Avid Napper called The Longest Night. Scary Bear Soundtrack crafts their indie-pop tunes all the way up in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, where Friday’s high temperature will be a chilly 39ºF…
