Support Austin’s community radio

Today’s show marks the second and final episode of This Great White North during KOOP’s Fall Membership Drive, which means that we need your support to keep Austin’s premier community radio station strong! Justin and Joe the Canucks will be in the studio along with DJ AsuraSunil, bringing you some of the biggest anthems in Canadian indie music and seeking your contribution towards KOOP Radio, which is now in its 25th year of broadcasting the voices and sounds of Austin.

We’ll have three pairs of passes to see Montreal’s Ada Lea, who’ll be opening for Methyl Ethyl next Friday night, indoors at Stubb’s. We’ll also be announcing the winner of KOOP’s drawing for a pair of ACL Festival passes during the show!

Today marks our second and final show of KOOP’s Spring Membership Drive, which means it’s your last chance to show your support for independent Canadian music on the Austin airwaves by renewing your KOOP membership—or by becoming a new member!

Today marks the start of KOOP’s Fall Membership Drive, and we’ve got a special treat for two KOOP supporters: Sloan tickets! The legendary Canadian rockers are performing at 3TEN ACL Live next Friday (Sept. 14) and we’ll have two pairs of tickets to give to generous supporters of Austin’s community radio station. Tune in to Doug and Justin the Canucks, reunited in the studio on today’s show, for details on how you can win!

We’ve shortened this Membership Drive to ten days so we can get back to the regular KOOP programming you love—but we still need to meet our goal of $100,000 to keep community radio on the airwaves in Austin. This week is our third and final show of KOOP’s Fall Membership Drive. Both Canucks will be in the studio along with DJ AsuraSunil, and we’ll be looking for your support as we press into the end of the drive—we’ve got one weekend left to reach our goal of $100,000 to support homegrown, independent community radio in Austin!

In addition to our favorite Canadian indie artists and the Neil Young Song of the Week, one lucky KOOP supporter will receive a pair of tickets to see Tei Shi when she performs next week at Stubb’s!

We ask for your support only twice a year, but those two membership drives are what keep us on the air, bringing you the latest and greatest independent Canadian music every week, for over twelve years now. If our 90 minutes of music brings some joy to your Fridays—and if you appreciate the fiercely independent, intensely local, community-driven news, commentary, and music that KOOP has been offering for over 20 years—we need your support to keep it on the air!
