New music for November

The temperature is finally cooling off and the days are getting shorter, but the Canadian music scene continues to generate heat with a slew of new releases. Continuing the recent trend, we’re bringing you another week chock full of new music—including several artists never before heard on the show, such as EONS, Lanikai, Naked Chillen, Orlando Gloom, Slow Man Tofu, and Tommy Hawkins.

Plus, we’ll have the latest releases by The Darcys, Dearly Beloved, Diamond Mind, DIANA, Lowell, John K. Samson, Sex With Strangers, Twin River, and Wizaard—along with some favorites by the Cannon Bros., Carbon Dating Service, and a special Thanksgiving track by Graham Wright.

To honor the recent death of Leonard Cohen, we’ll play another of his songs (this one from 1992’s The Future) and we’ll also return to our countdown of Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Neil Young Songs of All Time with a rare, never-released track called “Pushed It Over the End”.

Don’t miss out—get your fix of independent Canadian music on This Great White North, Friday at 4:30 PM on KOOP 91.7 FM in Austin or broadcasting online, worldwide, at KOOP.org.
