Overdue SXSW recap and new tunes

The Canucks have been out of the studio for a few weeks, wrapped up in South By Southwest and various illnesses. But, Justin the Canuck returns this week for a long-overdue SXSW recap show that’ll also feature a ton of brand new music. Tune in to hear songs from some of our favorite SXSW experiences, by artists including Close Talker, Duotang, I.D.A.L.G., Mise en Scene, Royal Tusk, We Are Wolves, and Wild Rivers!

Mixed in with these never-before-played SXSW songs, we’ve got the worldwide radio premiere of Super Pyramid‘s new single, “Living Spaces”. As well, we’ll have new tracks by The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, Land of Talk, Like Pacific, Mobina Galore, The New Pornographers, Partner, Peach Pit, Said the Whale, and Sam Patch! Most of these bands have recently released, or will soon be releasing, new albums—and we’ve got the latest for you. Plus, we’ll continue the Neil Young tradition with #73 on Rolling Stone’s countdown of his top songs of all time.

Join Justin the Canuck at 4:30 PM Central on KOOP Radio, 91.7 FM in Austin, Texas and broadcasting to the world at KOOP.org.

7 days, 81 Canadian artists… 200 events!

This year’s South by Southwest music festival starts early—Weaves is playing Monday night—and ends late, with Duchess Says taking the stage Sunday night at 8:30 PM. We’ve done the hard work for you, and have sorted through seven days of set lists to find you all 81 Canadian artists and 200 Canadian events, and have rolled them all up into easy-to-read, printable, pocket-able PDFs.

This year’s schedule notes which events are official showcases (marked by a plus (+)) and which are unofficial events (marked by a dash (–)). Canada House has moved and is no longer at Friends; this year, it’s at Swan Dive (615 Red River). In addition to showcases, our schedules also include a poutine party, a barbecue, a pool party, and even a frat party. (We promise, it involves Canadian music.)

Use the links below to download our latest set of schedules [PDF]:

Note that both official and unofficial events may require a cover charge, RSVP, or invitation; official events may be accessible by paying a cover, but most will require a wristband or badge. You may need to seek out an artist’s homepage or social media outlets for details about the more obscure events, like the frat party and pool party.

The schedules are up-to-date as of Sunday at 11:00 PM. If you have additions or corrections, please let us know (see our Contact page); otherwise, we probably will not update these throughout the week because we’ll be busy enjoying the music!

If you’re at the festival, find us downtown—Justin the Canuck will be there all day, everyday (well… maybe not Sunday). And don’t be shy—hit us up on Facebook, Twitter, or by email. We’ll do our best to reply.

Finally, if these schedules make your SXSW easier, more fun, and more Canadian, please consider pledging your support to our broadcast home, KOOP Radio. We are proud to be 100% independent, local, and non-profit, but we can’t do it without your support. Please visit TGWN.fm/donate to contribute!
